Telangana should become a power surplus state by the end of 2018, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has said. In a review meeting with power minister G Jagadish Reddy and officials at Secretariat here KCR directed for a time bound action plan in this regard.
KCR decided to allot Rs 1,000 cr next budget for TS Genco to produce 6000 MW power. He directed the officials to ink an MoU with Chattisgarh another 1000 MW power, while Telangana will get previously agreed 1000 MW from it.
Stating that the state will produce 8500 MW by 2016, KCR told the officials to provide power to farm sector for Rabi by purchasing in open market. He also asked the officials to focus on producing 24,000 MW by 2018 including 21,350 MW thermal power and the rest hydal power.
