Classic 80s & 90s Songs Shine in Modern Films

Using popular songs from the 1980s and 1990s has become an increasingly popular trend in modern films. Recently, in K-Ramp, the makers included the classic track “Idemitamma Maya Maya” from Rajasekhar’s earlier film Aayudham. Interestingly, the song was chosen not for its anticipated impact but simply because the rights were available at a lower cost. Ironically, it ended up becoming one of the film’s biggest highlights, significantly influencing its overall momentum.
Similarly, in Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu, the makers needed a love track that could work across three languages while keeping the same melody. In the past, legendary composer Ilaiyaraaja often created tunes in multiple languages, and many of his hit songs exist in both Tamil and Telugu. For this reason, the team opted for the classic “Sundari… Neney Nuvvanta” from Dalapathi, composed by Ilaiyaraaja. A few additional old songs were also woven into different parts of the film.
Acquiring the rights to these tracks was no small expense. Reports suggest that the makers spent nearly ₹1 crore in total to include these classic songs as short musical segments, enhancing the film’s nostalgic appeal and audience connection.
