Kannada superstar Yash has reportedly overtaken Tamil icon Rajinikanth in the Telugu market, with his upcoming Telugu-dubbed film Toxic fetching a record-breaking price. According to leading distributors, the film has been sold for a whopping Rs 105 crore (recoverable advance) in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, making it the highest-ever price for a dubbed movie in the two Telugu states.
“In comparison, Rajinikanth’s last release Coolie was traded for around Rs 52 crore here. Clearly, Yash has surpassed the Tamil superstar in the dubbed film segment,” a source revealed.
Trade analysts point out that Yash’s phenomenal success with KGF and KGF 2, which together collected over Rs 120 crore in the Telugu states, significantly boosted his market presence. “KGF turned Yash into a superstar among Telugu audiences. The films enjoyed massive repeat value and created a huge fan base for him here,” said a distributor.
With Toxic being positioned as a high-octane action entertainer, expectations are at an all-time high. “Yash returns in a fiery avatar, and the film is expected to open big when it releases in March. Telugu distributors didn’t hesitate to invest heavily, breaching the Rs 100-crore mark,” the source added.
While Rajinikanth still commands a strong following in the Telugu states—with Jailer collecting over Rs 45 crore and multi-starrer Coolie also fetching a strong price—the current trend clearly indicates that it is Yash’s season in the Telugu market.
