In an unexpected political turn, the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) has reportedly decided to extend support to the NDA’s Vice-Presidential candidate, Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan. The move has already triggered intense debate in political circles.
What makes this development striking is that YSRCP remains the only opposition party in the country that continues to back the ruling NDA at the Centre, despite being its prime political rival in Andhra Pradesh. Analysts find the stance ironic — while the NDA alliance ousted YSRCP from power in the state, the party still maintains a cooperative equation with the BJP in Delhi.
The decision has drawn sharp criticism from opposition leaders, who allege that Jagan Mohan Reddy’s ongoing legal challenges are influencing his political choices. They argue that YSRCP’s consistent support to the BJP, even after losing power, reflects a strategy focused more on Jagan’s personal safeguards than on the larger interests of the state or his party.
