Released in 2010, ‘Ye Maaya Chesave’ is the romantic drama that has attained cult status over the years. It established the career of Samantha and gave his first success to Naga Chaitanya, needless to say the film also laid the foundation for an association between the two actors which finally made them become real life partners. A sequel for this cult romantic drama is on the cards the story is not what fans would expect.
Director Gautham Menon, who made the original film in Telugu and Tamil separately, has recently disclosed the story idea for the sequel. “After his debut film Jessie, Karthik becomes a successful filmmaker, but his love life fails. When he attends a friend’s wedding, he meets his three friends who are not into the film business. It is an emotional ride among the four friends, who decide to spend time together on a road trip”, Gautham Menon reportedly revealed in a recent media interaction.
Going by Menon’s idea, the sequel seems to be a road movie, connecting by four love stories, of four protagonists, each from Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam industries. Menon also confirmed having Madhavan, Puneet Rajkumar and Tovino Thomas from Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam respectively on board. The lead actor from Telugu is yet to be finalized.
AR Rahman, who scored music for Ye Maaya Chesave, will score music for the sequel too, which will be released in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. Gautham Menon disclosed that he would take the project onto floors after he completes his ongoing films.
