YS Jagan Eyes 2029 Comeback, Prashant Kishor May Rejoin YSRCP

With more than three years remaining until the Andhra Pradesh assembly elections, the YSR Congress Party appears to be gearing up for a strong comeback. YSRCP president and former chief minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has expressed confidence in returning to power in 2029, citing growing public dissatisfaction with the current coalition government. As part of his strategy, Jagan plans another statewide padayatra a year before the elections and has begun revamping the party structure by appointing incharges in various constituencies.

Amid these developments, political circles are abuzz with speculation that popular strategist Prashant Kishor may return to Andhra Pradesh politics to assist the YSRCP. Kishor played a pivotal role in the party’s landslide 2019 victory but reportedly provided strategic inputs to the TDP in the 2024 elections. Jagan’s previous collaboration with the I-PAC team led by Robin Sharma in 2024 did not deliver the expected results, prompting efforts at the national level, particularly in New Delhi, to bring Kishor back on board.

Kishor’s recent limited impact in Bihar elections and ongoing engagements in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu could influence his decision. If talks progress as expected, an official announcement regarding this strategic partnership is anticipated during the YSRCP plenary session scheduled for July.
