“Ustaad Bhagat Singh” Story Rumors Debunked by Harish Shankar
With “Ustaad Bhagat Singh” set to hit theaters this month, director Harish Shankar has addressed circulating speculation about the film’s storyline.
Since the teaser and promotional material were released, many fans assumed the film was a remake of the Tamil blockbuster “Theri”, starring Vijay and directed by Atlee. However, Harish Shankar has firmly denied these claims.
He clarified his approach, saying he has never shied away from acknowledging remakes. “Back in 2012, I openly spoke about the changes I made while remaking ‘Dabangg’ as ‘Gabbar Singh’. I never hide when I adapt a story,” he stated.
The director emphasized that taking credit for the story and screenplay confirms that “Ustaad Bhagat Singh” is an original film. “Just because Pawan Kalyan plays a cop, it doesn’t make the film ‘Theri.’ Even the Antakshari-style ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’ sequence in ‘Theri’ was inspired by ‘Gabbar Singh,’” he added.
With this statement, Harish Shankar aims to put all remake rumors to rest ahead of the film’s release.
