YSRCP Cadre Back Rahul, Jagan, and Sakshi Stay Silent on EC Row

A curious twist has emerged in Andhra Pradesh politics. Except for YSRCP chief Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and his media house Sakshi, most YSRCP leaders and cadre are openly backing Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his explosive allegations against the Election Commission (EC).

Rahul has accused the EC of manipulating votes in favour of the BJP, claiming that the Congress possesses “atom bomb–level” evidence to prove massive electoral fraud. At a press conference in New Delhi on Thursday, he unveiled a detailed PowerPoint presentation alleging vote theft in Bengaluru Central, along with examples from other states that, according to him, expose serious irregularities and mistakes by the EC. His statements have set off political tremors, raising questions about the Commission’s credibility.

Interestingly, Jagan himself has repeatedly alleged that EVM tampering and EC misconduct led to YSRCP’s defeat in Andhra Pradesh. This led many to expect Sakshi to give prominent coverage to Rahul’s revelations. But to everyone’s surprise, the issue received only minimal attention—and certainly not a front-page slot—while several pro-government newspapers in the NDA camp covered it prominently. This editorial choice has baffled even YSRCP loyalists.

Meanwhile, YSRCP leaders and workers are actively sharing Rahul’s videos on social media, drawing parallels between his claims and their own allegations about Andhra Pradesh’s polls. Political observers believe Jagan’s muted response may stem from personal differences with Rahul, but it has also sparked debate on whether his own claims of election irregularities hold as much weight as he insists.
