YSRCP Competed With NOTA In Warangal

The 20th and the final round of counting for the Warangal by-election has been completed this afternoon and the final result has been declared. TRS candidate Pasunoori Dayakar scripted a historic victory by securing 6,08,431 votes with a never before majority of nearly 4.53 lakh votes. Congress contestant Survey Satyanarayana secured a distant 2nd spot with 1,54,988 votes and BJP’s Pagidipati Devaiah coming a close third with 1,29,118 votes.

The contest was clearly one-sided as even the Congress, BJP and YSRCP combined total of 3,07,328 votes is way below the half of the total votes polled for TRS. On the other hand, political analysts are dismayed at the pathetic performance of YSRCP in these by-elections as the party’s candidate Nalla Suryaprakash could only manage 23,222 votes.

With YSRCP not managing to give a close fight to even BJP with less than one lakh votes, the party could only find some solace as it won the contest with None Of The Above (NOTA), which got 7,691 votes. Seems like the voters didn’t even consider the party’s President YS Jagan’s 4-day tour in Warangal in which he vehemently took on the TRS President KCR and his rule and appealed to the voters to reject KCR’s rule.
