BJP’s “Operation Aakarsh” seems to be working in Seemandhra and the Opposition YSR Congress is bearing the brunt. A day after Jagan’s protest in Vizag, its former district president of YSRCP Chokkakula Venkata Rao along with his supporters on Saturday joined the BJP. He was accompanied by AP State BJP chief and Vizag MP K Hari Babu. Welcoming Chokkakula into the party fold, Hari Babu said the BJP was gaining support in the state as people have a lot of faith in the Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre.
He said that the party’s state wide membership drive will launch from this evening in all 13 districts in a massive way. Hari Babu said that nearly 1 Crore people have joined the party in the state through toll free number. BJP legislator from Visakhapatnam North, P Vishnu Kumar Raju said with the support of Chokkakula the constituency can be developed into a model one. Chookakula, who tasted failure when contested opposite Vishnu Kumar from YSRCP, said he was impressed by the leadership and functioning of Prime Minister Modi who is working hard for the development of the country.
He said he along with his supports would work for the strengthening of BJP in the state particularly in the district. Buzz is that several leaders of YSRCP in Vizag and other districts are contemplating to switch over to either BJP or TDP depending on local political equations. Looks like, BJP is slowly gaining its strength as its president Amit Shah and PM Modi are chalking special plans to set right the party down the South.
