Ace cricketers Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh might land into legal brawl as the CBI is preparing the list of celebrities including film stars and cricketers, who were showered with gifts from Peals Group.
Nirmal Singh Bhangoo, who is MD of the firm, and three others were handcuffed by CBI last week in connection to 45,000 crore Ponzi scam. Bhangoo and others have been accused of cheating investors. Ponzi means a fraud wherein faith in the success of non-existing firm is fostered by payment of returns to initial investors from the money collected from other investors.
Yuvraj and Harbhajan reportedly gained Mohali plots as gifts from the fraudulent firm. The plots are expected to be seized by Enforcement Directorate and CBI. Brett Lee, Australian cricketer, was made as brand ambassador of the Ponzi company to gain interests from overseas. Earlier in 2011, Pearls Group had sponsored India-West Indies ODI series.
