As 2024 draws to a close, Indian cinema celebrates a landmark year of outstanding box office performances across multiple languages. The year witnessed a diverse range of films enthralling audiences, with several achieving monumental success in both domestic and international markets.

Topping the charts is Icon Star Allu Arjun’s “Pushpa 2”, which shattered records to become the highest-grossing film of the year, amassing over ₹1705 crore. This highly anticipated sequel captivated fans with its gripping storyline, stellar performances, and electrifying action, solidifying Allu Arjun’s position as a pan-India superstar.

Securing the second spot is Rebel Star Prabhas’s futuristic epic, “Kalki 2898 AD,” with a lifetime collection of ₹1200 crore. The film’s cutting-edge visual effects and compelling narrative made it a global sensation.

In the third position, Raj Kumar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor’s horror-comedy “Stree 2” proved that genre films can also dominate the box office, earning an impressive ₹874.58 crore. Its blend of humor and scares struck a chord with audiences.

Jr. NTR’s “Devara” and Thalapathy Vijay’s “GOAT” claimed the fourth and fifth spots, with collections of ₹521 crore and ₹456 crore, respectively. Both films showcased their lead stars’ mass appeal and delivered on high expectations.

The remainder of the top 10 includes a mix of blockbuster sequels, pan-India releases, and high-octane entertainers:

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 – ₹417.51 crore
Singham Again – ₹389.64 crore
Fighter – ₹344.46 crore
Amaran – ₹335 crore
Hanu-Man – ₹350 crore
Notably, Telugu cinema dominated the list with four entries, reflecting its growing influence in the Indian film industry. Hindi films also made a strong impact with four entries, while Tamil cinema contributed two blockbusters.

Looking ahead, 2025 promises to be another stellar year for Indian cinema, with much-anticipated pan-India releases such as Kantara 2, War 2, Game Changer, Coolie, and Thug Life already creating significant buzz. With such an exciting lineup, the stage is set for Indian films to scale even greater heights at the global box office.
