Peddi Delays Raise Concerns Over Director’s Planning

There is growing concern in the industry that some directors are putting producers under immense pressure by failing to stick to schedules, especially on big-budget films.

A case in point is “Peddi,” starring Ram Charan. Mounted on a భారీ budget, the film is expected to deliver a strong pan-India impact. Naturally, such a project demands precise planning and strict timelines. However, reports suggest that director Buchi Babu Sana has struggled to meet deadlines.

Despite having nearly four years after Uppena to prepare for the project, the film is reportedly still incomplete with just about a month left for release. Contrary to earlier reports, not one but two songs are yet to be shot, including an item number. This delay has raised concerns, especially since Ram Charan is said to have been consistently providing his dates as planned, while the producer continues to invest heavily.

Adding to the pressure, international exhibition standards—such as those followed by IMAX chains in the US—require final content delivery at least 10 days prior to release. This means the film should ideally be locked, censored, and ready well in advance. Given the current pace, there are doubts about whether these deadlines can be met without complications or penalties.

The stakes are particularly high for Ram Charan, who is aiming for a major pan-India success. A film of this scale cannot rely solely on regional performance; it needs a strong nationwide promotional push and record-breaking collections. Simply earning ₹300–400 crore may not be sufficient considering the budget involved.

There are also discussions about whether bringing in Sukumar—under whom Buchi Babu Sana previously worked—could help refine the film. However, involving him at this late stage could potentially lead to further delays depending on the changes suggested.

Ultimately, for a film like Peddi to succeed, coordination and clarity between the director, producer, and lead actor are crucial. This situation serves as a reminder that handling large-scale projects requires not just creative vision but also disciplined execution and time management.
