SRK’s ‘King’ Delayed to Spotlight Suhana Khan
The much-anticipated action drama King, meant to serve as the theatrical debut of Suhana Khan, daughter of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, has hit a pause. The project is currently on hold as the script undergoes another round of rewrites. The makers, including SRK and director Siddharth Anand, are reportedly focused on reshaping the narrative to give Suhana a stronger presence in the storyline.
While Shah Rukh Khan plays the titular role, he is said to be actively working to minimize his character’s dominance to ensure that Suhana remains the emotional and narrative core of the film. “When SRK is in the frame, the spotlight naturally stays on him. Toning that down is a big creative challenge,” a source close to the production shared. Despite the difficulty, Siddharth Anand is determined to frame the movie around Suhana’s character.
Interestingly, the real-life father-daughter duo do not portray that relationship on-screen. Instead, SRK plays an elite assassin tasked with protecting a young woman, portrayed by Suhana. This will be Suhana’s second acting project after her digital debut in Zoya Akhtar’s The Archies, which received mixed-to-poor reviews.
With the script being refined to better serve its lead female character, the team behind King is clearly prioritizing Suhana’s positioning as a serious talent in mainstream cinema. However, the revised production timeline remains uncertain for now.
