While she is currently juggling multiple projects in Bollywood and Kollywood, it’s Tollywood that gave her the massive craze she enjoys today. Starring alongside top Telugu heroes, she delivered several super hits before her market in Tollywood saw a slight dip.

Now, there’s talk that offers from Telugu filmmakers are coming her way again, even as she continues to stay busy in Tamil and Hindi cinema. In fact, she is all set to groove to the Monica song in the much-anticipated film Coolie.

Recently, comments she made in an interview have gone viral on social media. Pooja revealed that Bollywood hasn’t really given her meaningful roles, saying that she has mostly been viewed as just a “glamour heroine” there. She pointed out that the roles she got in Hindi films were forgettable, while in South cinema, she was offered well-written, memorable characters.

Recalling her recent retro-themed film with Tamil superstar Suriya, Pooja spoke fondly of playing the role of Rukmini. She credited director Karthik Subbaraj for designing her character beautifully and said the movie proved her versatility as an actress. She also expressed her desire to take on more such roles in the future.

Unlike some actresses who gain fame in the South and then belittle the industry after moving to Bollywood, Pooja has taken a refreshingly different stance. She openly acknowledged that the South gave her strong characters and great opportunities, earning her respect from fans and industry insiders alike.
