Ravi Rathod Opens Up on Struggles and Survival
Ravi Rathod, who captivated audiences as a child artist in the blockbuster Vikramarkudu, has had a career spanning over fifty films, including hits like Andhrawala, Khadgam, Bommarillu, and Shankardada MBBS. Despite his early fame, his journey has been marked by profound challenges and personal struggles.
Ravi recently opened up about the hardships he faced, including the heartbreaking loss of his family, his battles with alcoholism, and his struggles with mental health. He shared a deeply emotional memory from his childhood, recounting the devastating moment when his parents and grandmother tragically took their own lives. “The last film I acted in as a child artist was SMS. During that time, my entire family passed away in a horrific incident. When I returned to the shoot, they were gone. I had no choice but to leave home and live with my uncle and aunt,” he revealed.
This tragedy left a lasting impact on Ravi, leading to a turbulent period in his life. His fortunes changed when renowned choreographer-director Raghava Lawrence stepped in to support him. Lawrence adopted Ravi, ensured he received quality education by enrolling him in a prestigious school, and provided him with the financial and emotional support needed to rebuild his life.
Despite these opportunities, Ravi faced numerous hurdles in his career. He admitted to losing the will to pursue acting after being repeatedly told to wait for opportunities that never materialized. “I stopped trying as an actor. Every time, I was told to come tomorrow, but nothing ever happened,” Ravi confessed.
To cope with his emotional pain, Ravi turned to alcohol, a struggle he is still battling. “I am addicted to alcohol. If I don’t drink, all the memories come flooding back. I can’t go a single day without it,” he shared candidly.
