TDP Leader Pemmasani Condemns Social Media Abuse, Calls for Political Civility

April 3, 2026

A recent social media incident involving inappropriate comments about the family of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has sparked fresh discussion on political discourse and online conduct.

The controversy began when a post allegedly made by a TDP supporter included objectionable remarks and an image featuring Jagan along with his wife and children. The post quickly drew widespread criticism on social media, including strong disapproval from several TDP supporters themselves. YSRCP cadres also expressed anger over the incident, further intensifying the debate.

Significantly, the matter did not go unnoticed by the leadership. Union Minister Pemmasani Chandrasekhar responded firmly, stressing the importance of maintaining dignity in public life. He stated that political discussions must remain focused on governance and issues, and that dragging family members or private individuals into political exchanges is unacceptable, regardless of the party involved. He also emphasized that respect, boundaries, and civility—especially towards women and families—must always be upheld.

He further reiterated that “families should be off-limits in political debates,” calling for a clear line to be drawn in public discourse.

This stance has been viewed by many as a notable shift in tone compared to earlier political environments, where such incidents often went unchecked. Reports also suggest that action has been taken against individuals within party circles for crossing limits on social media, indicating a stricter approach toward maintaining discipline.

Overall, the incident has reignited conversations about responsible political communication and the need to keep personal families out of political rivalry.
