Deepika Padukone’s Exit from Prabhas’ Spirit Sparks Debate
Pan-India star Prabhas is gearing up for his next big project Spirit, directed by the talented Sandeep Reddy Vanga. With filming set to begin soon, the movie is already carrying massive expectations among fans and the industry alike, with many convinced it will be another blockbuster.
However, the project recently made headlines for a different reason. Initially, Bollywood star Deepika Padukone was considered for the female lead, but she was eventually replaced by rising actress Triptii Dimri. Post this development, Sandeep Reddy openly criticized Deepika and her team, accusing them of leaking story details and issuing a strong warning to them.
Reports suggest creative disagreements between Deepika and Sandeep, particularly around working hours and remuneration. Deepika reportedly wanted to limit her working hours to eight per day, especially after embracing motherhood. Though the incident happened days ago, discussions around work-life balance in the film industry continue to gain momentum.
TV host and filmmaker Kabir Khan’s wife, Mini Mathur, also weighed in on the matter. She defended Deepika, stating that in a country where everyone grows up under the care of mothers, it’s unfortunate to criticize a woman who wants to prioritize her child while maintaining her career. Mini stressed that if an actress requests an 8-hour workday post-childbirth, it should not be an issue.
Mini also pointed out the industry’s lack of progress, saying it’s unfair when male stars show up just two hours late despite committing to a 12-hour schedule. She insisted that Deepika wasn’t asking for special treatment — just what she deserves. Mini further suggested that Deepika should avoid working with people who fail to understand her perspective.
Her comments have since gone viral, fueling further conversations about work ethics, gender dynamics, and respect for personal boundaries in the entertainment industry.
