After delivering the classic hit Mahanati, reports suggested that he had pitched a story to megastar Chiranjeevi, though that project never materialized. Some rumors even claimed that Nag Ashwin was considering a sequel to Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari, but no updates followed at the time.

The 1990 fantasy entertainer Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari, directed by K. Raghavendra Rao and starring Chiranjeevi and Sridevi, remains a milestone in Telugu cinema. Its story of a celestial maiden descending to Earth and the young man protecting her captured the imagination of audiences and remains iconic.

Building on this backdrop, Nag Ashwin had reportedly prepared a fresh storyline for a sequel, but due to various reasons, the project did not move forward then. Currently, Chiranjeevi is working on the latest fantasy film Vishwambhar, directed by young filmmaker Vashisht. Reports suggest that in Vishwambhar, instead of the celestial maiden coming to Earth, the hero is taken to another planet—the Vishwambhar world. There are also whispers of a subtle tie-in or twist related to Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari in the film.

Amid this, Nag Ashwin is said to be actively preparing for his mega movie. He himself revealed that he has not abandoned the idea of a Jagadeka Veerudu sequel and is currently working on the script. Netizens have expressed mixed opinions: some wonder how two different concepts in the same genre will be handled, while others are confident that Nag Ashwin’s ability to creatively handle any genre makes this project promising.
