Ileana Opens Up About Her Struggles During Tollywood Debut
Ileana D’Cruz, who made her Tollywood debut with Devadasu, quickly rose to stardom and became one of the most sought-after actresses in the Telugu film industry. At the peak of her career in Telugu cinema, she received Bollywood offers and shifted her focus to Hindi films, where she remained busy for a few years. However, when opportunities in Bollywood began to dwindle, she attempted a comeback in the South, particularly in Telugu. Unfortunately, her re-entry didn’t succeed as expected, with her comeback film underperforming, and offers soon dried up.
With limited opportunities in both industries, Ileana eventually got married and embraced a new phase of life. She recently became a mother and expressed on social media that she is thoroughly enjoying motherhood.
In a recent interview, Ileana opened up about the struggles she faced at the start of her film career, particularly during the shooting of Devadasu. Her candid revelations have been creating a buzz on social media.
“The film industry is filled with pressure and intense emotions. During the shoot of Devadasu, I faced many difficulties. It was my first film, and I struggled to communicate on set. I couldn’t speak the local language, and the crew didn’t understand my language either. Many times, I wanted to speak up but the language barrier made it impossible. I often called my mother, crying, saying that I couldn’t do this anymore. I even thought of quitting the film midway because I felt completely lost and disconnected,” Ileana shared.
She further added that her mother was her pillar of support during those tough times. Her mom would motivate her and even accompany her to the sets whenever possible. Ileana acknowledged that having family support is crucial, especially when dealing with isolation and emotional lows. She revealed that speaking to her family members helped her feel relaxed and less burdened.
Despite her initial struggles, Ileana went on to achieve remarkable success in Tollywood. She holds the distinction of being the first actress in Telugu cinema to command a remuneration of ₹1 crore, a record she set while working on a film with actor Tarun.
Ileana’s journey is a testament to resilience, and she continues to share her experiences, inspiring many who face similar challenges in their careers.
