Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa was taken into custody on Thursday after the Supreme Court revoked the bail previously granted to him by the Karnataka High Court in connection with the Renukaswamy murder case.

Sources report that Darshan is feeling low and did not participate in the 79th Independence Day celebrations at Bengaluru Central Prison. He reportedly stayed awake throughout the night following his arrest.

Darshan, along with his partner Pavithra Gowda and others, was initially arrested in June 2024 over the alleged murder of 33-year-old fan Renukaswamy, who was accused of sending offensive messages to Pavithra. The couple had been released on bail later that year, but the Supreme Court’s recent order led to their re-arrest. Pavithra was also taken into custody from her Bengaluru residence on Thursday.

In a related note, former JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna, facing charges in a separate criminal case, also skipped the Independence Day celebrations at the prison. Reports indicate that both Darshan and Prajwal are distressed over recent legal developments. Darshan underwent medical examinations before being presented in court.
