Jagan’s Brief Assembly Visit: A Strategic Move to Avoid Disqualification?

A sight many thought was nearly impossible during the NDA’s tenure finally unfolded today—YS Jagan set foot in the Assembly ahead of the budget session. However, his visit was short-lived, as he and his MLAs walked out barely 10 minutes after the session began.

Jagan’s brief appearance seemed more like a strategic move to ensure his name was recorded in the Assembly proceedings, potentially avoiding the risk of disqualification. Recently, Deputy Speaker Raghurama Krishnam Raju (RRR) had warned that Jagan could face disqualification if he failed to attend the Assembly for 60 consecutive days, a stance that even Speaker Ayannapatrudu supported.

Though such a scenario had never arisen before, Jagan appeared to take Raghurama’s warning seriously. With a no-nonsense NDA government in power and a straightforward RRR as Deputy Speaker, the Assembly dynamics have become unpredictable. If Jagan had continued his pattern of skipping sessions, disqualification could have been a real possibility.

TDP supporters believe that Jagan was rattled by Raghurama’s mind games, which may explain his sudden but brief appearance. Instead of engaging in meaningful discussions, he chose to make a quick exit after raising slogans and slurs.

As a result, the much-anticipated face-off between Jagan, Chandrababu Naidu, and Pawan Kalyan in the Assembly remains a distant dream—for now.
