Recently, Indian cinema faced disappointment when All We Imagine As Light was overlooked for the Golden Globes. However, hope remains high for the Oscars. The 97th Academy Awards jury has revealed the list of 323 feature films eligible for this year’s Oscars, and notably, the Tamil film Kanguva is among them.

Though Kanguva, starring Suriya, struggled at the box office despite high expectations, it has met the eligibility requirements for the prestigious Best Picture category. But it’s not just Kanguva—several other Indian films also made the cut.

The Hindi version of Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Aadujeevitham (GOAT Life), Swatantrya Veer Savarkar, and Santosh have also earned their place on the list. Additionally, the Malayalam film All We Imagine As Light is included.

Voting for the nominations begins tomorrow and will continue until January 12, 2025. The Academy will announce the final nominees on January 17, 2025.
