A new documentary titled Survivor is set to offer an intimate and inspiring glimpse into Kannada cinema icon Shiva Rajkumar’s courageous battle with bladder cancer. The film will chronicle his journey from diagnosis through treatment and recovery, capturing one of the most challenging phases of his life with honesty and emotional depth.

Shiva Rajkumar, who publicly revealed his health struggles in March 2025, had announced that his year-long fight against the disease would be documented to raise awareness about cancer. The documentary was officially announced on his birthday and is being produced by Geetha Shivarajkumar under their home banner, Geetha Pictures. Written and directed by Pradeep Sastry, Survivor promises to be a powerful and heartfelt narrative.

Concerns about the actor’s health first surfaced in August 2024 when he appeared visibly weak during a press event. It was later confirmed that he was undergoing treatment, including surgery and chemotherapy. Despite his condition, Shiva Rajkumar showed extraordinary resilience, completing significant portions of his film 45, including intense action sequences, all while receiving medical care.

Encouraged by his doctors to share his experience, Shiva Rajkumar hopes that Survivor will not only inspire others battling similar health challenges but also spread awareness about the importance of early detection and cancer treatment.

More details about the documentary are expected to be unveiled in August. Once released, Survivor will provide audiences with a rare, deeply personal insight into the beloved actor’s private battle and his unyielding spirit — a true testament to his strength both on and off the screen.
