Pragya Jaiswal Shines at Gaddar Awards
The inaugural edition of the Gaddar Telangana Film Awards took place in Hyderabad on Saturday night, celebrating cinematic excellence and paying tribute to the late revolutionary poet Gaddar. Supported by the Telangana Government, the event stood as a testament to the State’s commitment to honouring film artistry.
Among the night’s biggest highlights was actress Pragya Jaiswal, who received two prestigious honours for her performances in Kanche and Akhanda. Both films were recognized as the second-best films of the year, bringing immense pride to the actress.
Sharing her excitement, Pragya said, “It’s truly one of the most credible and prestigious recognitions an actor can receive. My debut film Kanche and Akhanda being honoured together is overwhelming. Kanche holds a special place in my heart—it won a National Award, a State Award, and I received the Best Debut Award for it. When your first film receives such recognition, it validates all your hard work. And now, receiving this honour from the Chief Minister of Telangana feels even more special.”
Pragya also revealed how thrilled her parents were. “My parents have always been proud, but this particular award had them extra elated. It’s such a proud and humbling moment for our entire family.”
Reflecting on her journey, she credited her Kanche director Krish Jagarlamudi for a valuable lesson. “During Kanche, I already knew the film was going to be very special. It’s rare to feel that so early in your career. Almost a decade later, being recognized for it proves that feeling right. Krish once told me, ‘Epic or nothing’—and those words have stayed with me. Even today, I think of them before signing any film or role. That mindset shaped my journey.”
With the success of her recent film Daaku Maharaj, Pragya’s career continues to shine, backed by a foundation built on impactful performances and powerful cinema.
