Acclaimed filmmaker Atlee, who rose to national prominence with the blockbuster Jawan, has been awarded an honorary doctorate by Satyabhama University for his contributions to Indian cinema. The announcement comes amidst growing anticipation for his upcoming project with Allu Arjun, tentatively titled AA22xA6.

During his speech at the felicitation ceremony, Atlee candidly addressed one of the most persistent criticisms he has faced throughout his career—the allegation that his films are often copied. For the first time publicly, the director refuted these claims, stating that his stories are deeply rooted in personal experiences and real-life inspirations.

“People often say my films are copied, but today, I want to tell the truth. They are all inspired by my life. For example, the character Raayappan from Bigil was inspired by JPR sir,” Atlee revealed. He expressed gratitude for the recognition and pledged, “You have given me a doctorate—I promise to make this country proud.”

Atlee began his career as an assistant to director Shankar before making his debut with Raja Rani. He then collaborated with actor Thalapathy Vijay on three successful films, and most recently directed the pan-India hit Jawan, starring Shah Rukh Khan.

With AA22xA6 on the horizon, Atlee’s journey continues to capture national attention, both for his cinematic vision and his ability to resonate with audiences across languages.
