Hombale Films, known for delivering some of South Indian cinema’s biggest blockbusters, continues to impress with its upcoming project Kantara: Chapter 1, one of the most eagerly awaited Kannada films in recent times.

However, the production of Kantara encountered several challenges, mainly due to delays during the shooting schedule. Producer Chaluve Gowda addressed the rumors circulating about a supposed “curse” affecting the film’s shoot. He clarified that the difficulties were not supernatural but stemmed from the ambitious scale and demanding nature of the project.

Much of the filming took place in the dense forests of coastal Karnataka, presenting numerous obstacles. The team experienced incidents such as a bus accident in November 2024—fortunately with no injuries—a fire outbreak during a war sequence in January 2025 with no casualties, and the heartbreaking drowning of a crew member in June. Additionally, some equipment was lost during the shoot.

Before starting the production, the team sought blessings from Panjurli, a local deity, and were warned that challenges would arise but success would eventually follow. The tough forest terrain, early morning shoots, unpredictable weather, and long commutes all added to the complexity of the project. Despite these setbacks, Gowda expressed confidence that the hard work was worthwhile.

The filming wrapped up in July 2025, with Kantara: Chapter 1 scheduled for release on October 2. Fans eagerly await what promises to be another blockbuster from Hombale Films.
