After her last Telugu film Naa Ishtam, starring Rana Daggubati and directed by Prakash Toleti, Genelia stepped away from the industry. Now, she’s ready to return to Tollywood.

Recently, Genelia made a notable appearance in Bollywood’s Sitare Zameen Par, starring Aamir Khan, where she played a prominent role. Encouraged by that experience, she has decided to seek more meaningful and substantial roles across industries. She has even expressed her willingness to audition for such roles, indicating her serious commitment to her craft.

Currently, Genelia is working on Junior, a bilingual film releasing in Kannada and Telugu, where she plays a significant role. Moving forward, she has decided to focus only on tailor-made characters that truly challenge her as an actress. In fact, she openly stated that she is ready to audition for the right parts, sending a clear message to directors that she’s open to earning roles on merit rather than reputation.

In a recent interview, Genelia shared some interesting insights:

“Many ask me why I should audition when I’ve already established myself as a senior actress. But I believe auditions help me find the right roles and prepare better. I don’t see anything wrong with it, and I’m happy to do it if it leads me to stronger characters.”
