AR Rahman Rumored for Chiranjeevi’s Mega158

When Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman was brought on for Ram Charan’s Peddi, opinions were mixed. However, the runaway success of the song “Chikiri Chikiri”, composed by the Mozart of Madras, has changed the narrative—suggesting that many more Telugu stars could seek Rahman’s musical magic in the near future.
Strong Tollywood buzz now indicates that AR Rahman is in consideration for Megastar Chiranjeevi’s next project, tentatively titled #Mega158, to be directed by KS Bobby, famed for Waltair Veerayya. If this collaboration materializes, it would mark the first-ever official partnership between Chiranjeevi and AR Rahman.
Interestingly, the idea isn’t entirely new. Back in the 90s, had Chiranjeevi accepted S. Shankar’s Oke Okkadu, Rahman’s compositions could have entered his filmography. However, when Shankar’s Gentleman was remade in Hindi, the original Rahman tunes were retained, but it didn’t count as a direct collaboration with Chiranjeevi.
Now, after Ram Charan’s “Chikiri Chikiri” became a pan-India chartbuster, crossing 200 million views on YouTube across all languages, Rahman’s unique ability to blend rooted Indian sounds with global sensibilities has made him a hot choice in Telugu cinema.
Fans are eagerly waiting to see if the Chiru–Rahman combo will finally become a reality, potentially creating a historic musical moment in Tollywood.
