Kantara: Chapter 1 Faces Mishaps During Shoot
Kantara remains one of the biggest blockbusters in the country, and ever since its much-anticipated prequel was announced, the project seems to have been clouded by a series of unfortunate incidents. After a few tragic deaths linked to the film’s team, a new mishap occurred on Saturday night when a boat capsized in the Mani reservoir backwaters, drawing widespread attention.
Responding to the incident, Hombale Films Executive Producer Adarsh clarified that none of the film’s crew members were on the boat at the time of the accident.
“The shoot was taking place at the Mani backwaters. Due to strong winds and rain, the boat capsized. Thankfully, no one from our team was on board. Our crew was shooting at a different location nearby, and no injuries were reported,” stated Adarsh, dismissing rumors that several team members, including actor Rakshit, were present during the mishap.
Sadly, this is not the first misfortune to strike the film’s unit. Earlier, a 55-year-old mimicry artist, associated with the film, passed away from a heart attack while staying at a homestay in Agumbe. Last month, Kannada actor-comedian Rakesh Poojary also succumbed to cardiac arrest at a wedding event. In a separate tragic incident, junior artist M.F. Kapil drowned in the Souparnika River after being swept away by a strong current.
Directed by Rishab Shetty, Kantara: Chapter 1 is slated for release on October 2, 2025, with fans eagerly awaiting its arrival despite the string of unfortunate events surrounding its production.
