Everyone knows the kind of craze actress Genelia D’Souza once enjoyed in the film industry. She gained immense popularity in a short span, starring in several hit films across Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada languages. She also made her mark in Bollywood with a few superhits.

At the peak of her career, Genelia fell in love with Bollywood actor Riteish Deshmukh and married him, after which she took a long break from films. Now, after 13 years, she is making a gradual comeback to the big screen. Recently, she made a brief appearance in Aamir Khan’s Bollywood film Sitare Zameen Par, which was released on June 20th and received a positive response.

Now, after this long gap, Genelia is gearing up to entertain Telugu audiences with the film Junior, starring Kiriti Reddy, the son of businessman Gali Janardhan Reddy, marking his debut. The film releases today, and Genelia plays a significant role in it. While promoting the film, she shared the reason for her extended absence from cinema — she was busy with her family, kids, and husband, leaving little time for acting. She humorously added that, unlike TV host Suma, she couldn’t balance everything at once.

Genelia revealed that during this break, she also ventured into film production and even started a food company, calling it a different phase of her life. About her role in Junior, she said, “Since it’s an important character, I accepted it. As an actor, you need to work hard, but you also need the opportunity to prove yourself. I got that chance now, so I gave it my 100%.”

She also fondly recalled her iconic film Bommarillu when shown a photo from the film’s audio release event. She expressed her excitement about the possibility of a Bommarillu sequel, saying she’s ready for it whenever it happens. Although she missed the recent re-release of Bommarillu, she mentioned that she was aware of it.

Talking about Junior, Genelia said her role is special and called it a privilege to be part of the project.
