Generally, successful directors like Rajamouli tend to avoid labeling any of their works as their best. They often maintain that their finest creation is still ahead of them — a mindset that keeps them grounded and forward-looking. However, in a rare instance of candidness, Rajamouli recently confessed that Eega remains his best film to date. This revelation came during the pre-release event of the film Junior.

As old pictures from his career flashed on the screen, Rajamouli fondly recalled key moments from his journey. He opened up about Eega and also addressed the long-standing criticism that he confines himself to making mass action films.

On Eega, Rajamouli was unequivocal — he called it his best film without any hesitation. The film was a daring experiment, blending cutting-edge technology with an unusual narrative where a housefly is the central character. This unique concept resonated across the country and played a crucial role in introducing Rajamouli to audiences beyond the Telugu industry.

He also reflected on Sye, describing it as another form of experimentation. After the blockbuster Simhadri, critics pigeonholed him as a director who could only helm mass action entertainers. Determined to break that perception, Rajamouli took up Sye, a film revolving around the sport of Rugby — a first for Telugu cinema. The youthful energy combined with deep emotional layers helped him shed the ‘mass director’ label.

Currently, Rajamouli is busy with his much-anticipated untitled project starring Mahesh Babu. The shoot is underway, and expectations are sky-high for what could be yet another milestone in his illustrious career.
