Supreme Court Reprimands Dil Raju Over Mr. Perfect Copyright Case

The film industry is no stranger to copyright controversies, and once again, a similar issue has surfaced—this time involving senior producer Dil Raju. The Supreme Court has recently reprimanded him regarding a long-standing copyright infringement case against his 2011 film Mr. Perfect.

The case originated from writer Mummidi Syamalarani, who alleged that Mr. Perfect was copied from her novel Naa Manasu Korindi Ninne. She claimed that the filmmakers had plagiarized her work without consent. However, a key legal aspect here is that the film was released in 2011, while the copyright claim was filed only in 2017. Despite this delay, the matter reached the Supreme Court, which has now acknowledged that the case holds merit.

The apex court warned Dil Raju that the issue could escalate if not addressed properly. It advised him to resolve the dispute amicably outside the court to avoid serious legal consequences. However, in a temporary relief to the producer, the court has put the proceedings on hold, giving him time to find a resolution.

With the Supreme Court’s directive, all eyes are now on Dil Raju to see how he handles this matter. A mutual settlement with the writer could be a viable option to bring the long-drawn case to a close.
