Tollywood Faces Major Delays in 2026

2026 is increasingly shaping up to be a year of delays and postponements for Telugu cinema. The summer holiday season, which is typically packed with big-ticket releases, is set to pass without a single film from senior stars like Chiranjeevi, Nandamuri Balakrishna, Venkatesh Daggubati, and Akkineni Nagarjuna.
What’s even more surprising is that leading stars such as Prabhas, Ram Charan, Allu Arjun, and N. T. Rama Rao Jr. are also missing from the release calendar this season.
Several high-profile projects are being pushed further ahead. “Dragon,” which was initially scheduled for a June 2026 release, is now reportedly postponed to 2027. Other major films like “Vishwambhara,” “Peddi,” “The Paradise,” and “Fauji” are also facing repeated delays.
“Vishwambhara,” starring Chiranjeevi, has been stuck in post-production for an extended period. Originally planned for a January 2026 release, the film was postponed indefinitely. Although there were brief discussions about targeting July, it now appears unlikely to meet that timeline, with no confirmed release date in sight.
Meanwhile, “Peddi,” featuring Ram Charan, has once again been delayed. According to overseas distribution sources, the makers are considering June 4 or June 25 as possible release dates. However, a June 4 release depends on the postponement of “Toxic,” making June 25 a more realistic option. Even then, another delay cannot be ruled out.
There is also strong buzz around “The Paradise,” directed by Srikanth Odela, who is known for his uncompromising approach to quality. The film is reportedly being planned as a major pan-Indian spectacle, and a further shift to December is being considered.
On the other hand, “Fauji,” starring Prabhas and directed by Hanu Raghavapudi, has also revised its release strategy. Initially aimed for a Dasara release, the period action drama is now likely targeting early December 2026, capitalizing on growing hype and expectations.
Overall, the repeated postponements of big-budget films in 2026 have become a major talking point in the industry, leaving audiences waiting longer than expected for their favorite stars on the big screen.
