Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu announced that the state government will introduce Artificial Intelligence (AI) lessons starting from Grade 5 in all government schools. This initiative was revealed during a workshop on Thursday that focused on AI and its applications across various sectors.

During the session, Naidu was briefed by experts on the impact of AI, especially in the IT sector, and the transformational role it is playing in industries worldwide. They also discussed the necessity of providing adequate skill training to prevent job displacement as technology evolves.

Chandrababu emphasized the potential of AI in agriculture, citing examples from northern states where drones are already being used to spray pesticides and detect crop diseases. He expressed a desire to integrate similar technologies in Andhra Pradesh to enhance agricultural productivity.

In a significant move, Naidu suggested that women in self-help groups, especially those in agriculture, should be trained to operate AI-driven drones. This, he said, could greatly increase productivity and help empower women in rural areas.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the importance of reskilling existing IT professionals to ensure job security as AI continues to shape the future of work. In addition to these plans, he revealed the government’s commitment to establishing an AI university in the state. This initiative aims to equip students with AI knowledge from an early age, ensuring they are prepared for the future.

Furthermore, Naidu assured that the state government is focused on nurturing the startup ecosystem, identifying innovative startups, and providing financial support to help them grow and thrive.
