Lady Superstar Nayanthara made a mark in 2025 with just one film, Test. Last year too, she appeared on the big screen with only Beyond the Fairy Tale. In two years, she has delivered just two films in theaters, leading fans to feel that there has been a long gap in her silver-screen presence.

However, 2026 promises to be a busy and exciting year for the actress, as she is set to make up for the past two years with a string of releases. Manan Ghati Scenes 1960 has already completed shooting and is currently in post-production. The film is expected to release early next year.

Additionally, her Tamil-Malayalam bilingual Dear Students has also wrapped filming and is in post-production, set to release soon. She will also be seen in Mana Shankar Vara Prasad Garu, releasing during Sankranti, where she stars opposite Megastar Chiranjeevi.

Nayanthara is playing a key role in the pan-India film Toxic, starring Yash, scheduled for a summer release. She is also part of the Malayalam movie Patriate and three other Tamil projects—Mookutti Amman 2, Hi, and Rakhiyae—which are currently in various stages of shooting. Two of these films are slated for mid-2026 release, while the third will release by the end of the year.

Recently, she has been cast as the heroine in Balakrishna’s 111th film, marking her fourth collaboration with the star. Overall, Nayanthara is expected to entertain audiences with nine releases in 2026—an unprecedented number for her in a single year after a long time.

In her peak years, she regularly had six films releasing in one year. Over time, the number of her releases decreased due to her selective approach towards lady-oriented films and the desire to work with the right directors. Some projects were delayed as the scripts or the directors did not meet her standards.
