Popular South Indian music composer and Kollywood actor GV Prakash, known for his generous and kind-hearted nature, recently fell victim to an online scam. Despite his history of helping those in need, he lost ₹20,000 on Thursday due to a fraudulent plea for assistance.

The incident began when an anonymous X user, @prasannasathis, posted an image of an elderly woman—who had actually passed away long ago—claiming she was his mother. The user fabricated a story that she had been the sole caregiver after their father abandoned the family and requested GV Prakash’s help for her final rites, tagging the composer in the post.

Moved by the story, GV Prakash immediately transferred ₹20,000 via UPI, demonstrating his generosity. However, netizens soon uncovered that the image had been taken from Google and that the entire story was fabricated to scam celebrities. By the time the truth surfaced, the scammer had already received the money and stopped responding to calls.

Social media users criticized the fraudster for undermining trust online, warning that such incidents could cause people to ignore genuine requests in the future. Some have even tagged Tamil Nadu police authorities to take action against the individual for spreading false claims and cheating.
