Zubeen Garg Death Case: Official Report Rules Out Foul Play

The mysterious death of popular Assamese singer-songwriter Zubeen Garg continues to make headlines across the country. Garg passed away in September last year following a tragic incident during a yacht party in Singapore. Reports suggest that he declined to wear a life jacket before entering the water, which ultimately led to his drowning.

Several speculations had surfaced regarding the circumstances of his death. However, the official investigation report has now provided clarity. According to the findings, Garg initially wore a life jacket while swimming but later removed it and refused to put on another. He reportedly entered the water alone without a life jacket and attempted to swim towards Lazarus Island, where he was later found floating face down.

Rescue teams immediately pulled him out of the water and administered CPR, but he was pronounced dead later that day. An autopsy confirmed drowning as the cause of death. Toxicology reports revealed severe alcohol intoxication, with blood alcohol levels indicating significantly impaired coordination. The report also noted that Garg had a medical history of hypertension and epilepsy, though it remains unclear whether he had taken his prescribed medication at the time.

Singapore police have ruled out any foul play, categorizing the incident as an accidental drowning. Meanwhile, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) in Assam continues to probe the case independently. The latest findings place the spotlight on Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who had earlier stated that Zubeen Garg was killed, raising questions about how the state government will respond to the official conclusions.

With the investigation ruling out foul play, attention now turns to whether the Assam government will revise its stance or continue with the separate SIT inquiry into the case.
