Renowned for films like Mallesham and 8 A.M. Metro, director Raj R. is back with another thought-provoking drama, 23. Produced by Studio 99 and presented by Spirit Media under the leadership of Rana Daggubati, the film stars Teja and Tanmayee in lead roles.
Unveiled today, the trailer of 23 teases a gripping narrative inspired by three harrowing real-life incidents—the 1991 Tsunduru massacre, the 1993 Chilakaluripet bus fire, and the 1997 Jubilee Hills car bombing. Rather than treating these as isolated tragedies, Raj R. weaves them into a single, emotionally resonant story exploring the deep scars of violence, prejudice, and systemic neglect.
Staying true to his signature storytelling style, Raj R. brings a raw yet empathetic lens to the subject. Each character leaves a mark, contributing meaningfully to the film’s layered emotional landscape. The visuals by Sunny Kurapati add to the grounded realism, while Mark K Robin’s haunting score underscores the film’s intense tone.
23 hits theatres on the 16th, and all signs suggest it will be another impactful addition to Raj R.’s socially conscious filmography.
