The verdict of world’s 2nd biggest scam and India’s sensational 2G scam is out after 6 years of long trail. Delhi’s Patiala House Court has pronounced its verdict today (Dec 21,2012). In a shocking verdict, the judge pronounced that all the accused in the case got acquitted. According to the judge, the prosecution “failed” to prove the charges against accused.
The 2G spectrum case trial began six years ago in 2011, after the court framed charges against 17 accused including A Raja, Kanimozhi.
Former Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) Vinod Rai’s 2010 report said that the “scam” had caused a loss of Rs 1,760,000,000,000 (1.76 Lakh Crore) to the public exchequer. It is followed by the CBI which estimated a loss of Rs 30,984 Crore in its chargesheet filed in April 2011.
Former Telecom Minister A Raja and DMK leader Kanimozhi (daughter of Karunanidhi) were acquitted in 2G Case. While former Minister Kapil Sibal and Manish Tiwari demanded apology from Vinod Rai, Chidambaram stated that it is proved that there is “no scam”.
The DMK supporters of Raja, Kanimozhi, and followers of several UPA leaders erupted in celebration as soon as the verdict is out.
