The trailer for Dhadak 2 has officially dropped, sparking buzz across social media. Following the success of the 2018 film Dhadak, which marked Janhvi Kapoor’s debut and was based on the Marathi blockbuster Sairat, this sequel features a fresh cast and a more intense storyline.

This time, Triptii Dimri takes the female lead opposite Siddhant Chaturvedi, with the film directed by Shazia Iqbal. Unlike its predecessor, Dhadak 2 draws inspiration from the critically acclaimed 2018 Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal, directed by Mari Selvaraj.

The trailer gives glimpses of tender romance and youthful energy through light-hearted scenes and vibrant dance numbers. However, the narrative quickly deepens as caste-based discrimination surfaces within a college setting, portraying a grim, ongoing battle faced by students.

While Dhadak explored themes of honor killing and familial conflict, Dhadak 2 appears to shift the focus to caste as a broader societal issue, aiming to deliver a more hard-hitting social commentary.

Backed by producers Karan Johar, Umesh Kumar Bansal, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Meenu Aroraa, Somen Mishra, and Pragati Deshmukh, with co-producer Marijke deSouza, Dhadak 2 is set to hit theatres on 1st August.
