Being a graduate from the London School of Economics, Nirmala Seetharaman brings an image of honesty and sophistication to the BJP. However, politics is a different reality and Nirmala seems to be warming up to her new role.
Every time that she was in Andhra Pradesh or Hyderabad after taking over as Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Nirmala has been repeatedly indicating that all promises to AP will be fulfilled including special status. This despite the ground signals painting a completely different picture.
One can understand the like of Venkayya Naidu making false promises for they are dyed-in-the-wool politicians. But even Nirmala Seetharaman seems to be following in the same vein.
βThe promises to AP will take time as there are procedures to be followed. We will definitely do justice. As an MP from AP, it is my responsibility,β said Nirmala in Hyderabad. She has been repeating this phrase now ad nauseam.
When educated politicians like Nirmala also indulge in politics of convenience over moral obligations, they end up making the common man lose all credibility in them.
