Traditionally, the Congress has always followed a top-down approach: those at the top of the hierarchy lay down the rules and those at the bottom listen in silence and follow them. However, the rout in the polls of AP should surely be the worst moment for the Party in its history.
It failed to win even a single seat in AP following the bifurcation. And this verdict has resulted in a change in mindset of the ‘Grand Old Party’. A two day brainstorming session is being organized in Vijayawada on the kind of approach to be adopted to win back credibility in the eyes of the people.
Unlike other meetings where leaders spoke and cadre just listened to them, this meeting will be marked by two-way communication with leaders taking inputs from the cadre and sending the suggestions to the national headquarters.
Party leaders at all levels from PCC President down to district and city committees would be taking part in the session. Will it be mere lip-service or will the Congress really reform itself?
