Had an opposition party been in power at the Centre, the TDP government would have gone ballistic with its criticism thanks to Centre’s refusal to accord special status to Andhra Pradesh. Since BJP is the poll-ally of TDP, Chandra Babu Naidu is maintaining a ‘no comments’ status on the situation.
In fact, he has said that the Centre was going through financial problems and that it cannot allot funds at this point. Apparently, the same has been conveyed to his Cabinet colleagues and they have been given instructions not to bad-mouth Centre’s decision.
Meanwhile, there are stories floating around that Chandra Babu has also decided to reduce his frequent visits to New Delhi. A few days back, he met up with 11 union ministers, but nothing came out of those meetings.
So, Babu is now planning not to waste any time flying to Delhi to put across his requests. Also, at the same time, he cannot take on BJP for obvious reasons. And Babu is said to be considering an alternate strategy to deal with the situation.
They cannot criticize BJP openly, but they need to find a way out to get funds from the Centre and this has put the TDP leaders in a dilemma as they have to go about their job smoothly. So, does this reflect the helplessness of Chandra Babu?
