Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has upped pressure on PM Modi over Special Category Status for AP during his meet with Modi on Thursday. Briefing media after meeting Modi, Mr Naidu said that he has met PM Narendra Modi and 11 other prominent people at Centre and sought help from Centre for the truncated state of Andhra Pradesh.

“I’ve brought the issue of Special Category Status for AP and financial package for the state to Prime Minister. Also sought him additional Rs 1500 Crore for the Employment Fund. Besides these brought several other problems to Modi’s notice. He was keen to offer aid,” shared Chandrababu.

Accomanpied by States’ representative at Centre Kambhampati Rammohan Rao and Advisor (communications) to AP Government Dr Parakala Prabhakar, Naidu added, “I’ve invited PM Modi for upcoming Godavari Pushkaralu.”

Earlier, he urged Union Water Resources Minister Uma Bharati to complete the Polavaram multi-purpose irrigation project within four years. “We have sought completion of the Polavaram project within four to four-and-a-half years before the next elections,” he said after meeting Bharati.
