Yes, and if all goes well then you might have a casino popping up right in Andhra Pradesh. Well, that’s one of the grand visions set by AP CM Chandrababu in developing Vizag.
Inside sources say he is planning to come up with casinos. As of now, casinos are there in Goa and many from different parts of the country go there for gambling. In terms of competition, we have Singapore, Sri Lanka and Laos which have casinos. Those who can afford more head to Macau but in India there is no other hub except Goa.
As a result, Naidu has reportedly got Rs 60000 cr in mind for creating an entertainment hub in and around Vizag. Some say the casino thing will become a reality but some say it is impossible. The idea is, due to casinos foreign exchange will come into the country in a huge way.
But given our system such as women organizations, moral policing, red tape bureaucracy and corruption, it has to be seen. Any nation having casinos has strict laws for locals but they are welcoming for foreign nationals. So, the development aspect is good but how Naidu will handle the Indian psyche remains to be seen. If he is able to come up with a good framework Vizag will become a cashcow for AP.
