You may have heard of the drug mafia, land mafia, oil mafia, sand mafia, smuggling mafia and the gangster mafia but did you hear about bus mafia? Well, this is the new buzz happening in Telangana state and especially Hyderabad.
The reason for that is the upcoming festival of Sankranthi. It is a common phenomenon that when Sankranthi is around, many from Hyderabad travel to their hometowns in Andhra Pradesh. Taking advantage of that, the bus fares are being made into double and triple the actual price. In fact, the private travels are creating artificial demand.
They are saying all tickets are sold and selling it at black. Thankfully, railways have arranged special trains between Hyderabad and major cities and many trains have come. Due to that, the mafia rate is coming down to an extent. But some people are in panic mode and buying tickets at hefty prices. Some are choosing to go by their own cars.
Those who are going with families prefer buses but due to the prices they feel going by car is better. That’s how the bus mafia is operating and we have to see if the authorities do something about it.
