You may have heard a discussion quite a few times on why India is not on par with the western countries despite having all resources and infrastructure. Well, the basic to that is the lack of self-discipline. Once an initiative is undertaken in foreign countries, it continues for years together and the citizens involve with a sense of commitment.
Unfortunately, that doesn’t happen in India. The best examples for that are the Ice Bucket Challenge and Swachch Bharat campaign. Some of the analysts say there is not much difference between both. When it was announced, many celebrities and regular crowds did the act just for videos and uploading them on Facebook.
It has become a mere formality and no permanent solution has been drawn from that. The Swachch Bharat campaign also, people came forward and did for a while. But now, trash is coming back and it is remaining like that only.
Not much initiative is coming from public to continue these campaigns. They are saying it is good but they are not showing that required involvement and it is now looking superficial. What is the ultimate purpose? Not many really understood the essence of Ice Bucket challenge but got drenched by ice for the video. Just a thought to reflect upon!
