A bizarre regional clash has reportedly surfaced in the commercial taxes department of the Telangana state. Sources say that the department’s performance in terms of the meeting revenue targets has made Telangana officials to blame their colleagues with Seemandhra roots, who are a majority in the department, and have reportedly leveled serious charges of abetting tax evasion.
Although the target is Rs 28,000 crore, the department has only earned just over Rs 14,000 by the end of the month November and now officials are facing a herculean task of collecting another 14,000 crore in rest four months before March 31, 2015.
Meanwhile, the concerned minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav said that government was waiting for the Kamalanathan report for the distribution of employees between the two states and till there is clarity on staff division, it is not easy to address the issue.
He also added that regional arguments are meaningless and asked the officials not to involve in such kind of unpleasant issues and instead they must improve their efficiency to deliver better performance!
