Big business houses – Birlas, Rahejas, Walmarts and Adanis, who had their hey days during Y S Rajasekhar Reddy regime and made big monies, are now back in Andhra Pradesh to appease present Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. On Friday, these big business houses lined up before Naidu with a promise to make big investments in retail sector.
And Naidu, who does not lose any opportunity to welcome these big people, threw open the opportunities for them to invest as part of his “Make in Andhra Pradesh” vision on the lines of “Make in India” campaign.
Naidu had a meeting with representatives of Shoppers’ Stop, Walmart India, Lifestyle International, Future Retail, Trent, Reliance Retail, K. Raheja Group, Aditya Birla and Retailers Association of India and discussed opportunities to modernize retail business in the State.
The Chief Minister asked them to come up with a plan of action in setting up Retail Zones in the new State. Naidu also agreed for 365-day working for outlets where retailers have to abide by Labour laws and create a shift system for employees.
